Rebranding the Nation (the youths, the future)

This is a call to the young at heart; this is a clarion call for a major start.

Arise ‘o’ compatriots Nigeria’s call today obey

Rescue our nation for she prides in pain, she sheds tears like rains,

for our fathers, her children, her sons, have led us astray.

Oh the years of her reign, her glorious days

It is no longer time to wait; we refuse to be used as bait

it’s our time to take our place.

Memories of the past, of the good old days are gone

and so have the smiles on our faces.

But today births a new phase,

one that inspires a new chase, for a better tomorrow our hearts crave.

That soon all the nations of the world would stand and gaze

as we all together set corruption ablaze.

Have we forgotten so soon the lessons learnt in our classrooms?

Or the lessons learnt using those brooms, sweeping those rooms in school and at home?

Alas there was a light in the darkness; Nigeria saw the rise of the sun soon to shine bright.

You, you and you on the days you were born, a light was come, a chance for a new start,

a fresh heart, not corrupted by the darkness before dawn, where all evil gathering take their turn.

You and I are the rays of light, together we form a beam

You and I, we form a beam so strong it strengthens our bond

The light I see, the light I speak of with so much zeal; is the one of our dreams.

Everyone is born with a dream, but today all we hear are hymns sang at the funeral of those dreams.

We would no longer dream, but we'll awake as a team,

together we are about to change the theme.

The question I ask is ‘are you with me’?

It can only be done by you and me for the generation unborn.

Let’s give them a song reminding them of who they are and where they belong.

Let us not sit down and act like it is all well;

to get redemption sometimes you have to go through hell.

But I ask, would you rather live for nothing or die for something? Because other than that living would have no meaning.

We have trees today because seeds were planted, a tree they say cannot make a forest, but if we must have a forest, then we must plant seeds, so our trees in time, can be counted.

Let us come out with a focus, the youths, you and me form a caucus

From every state, tribe, school, occupation, location, no matter where you are, no matter what you do, no matter where you are from.

Let us arise with purpose, not allowing the ills that have eaten so deeply into our roots stop us.

Look at someone and say you can, we can, un-can and ‘REBRAND’ this Nation of ours together.

Our fallen, long lost name, together we lift from the ground and as one we make it “GRAND”

With this I say step out, this is our chance to shout,

eliminate your doubts; open your eyes, the eyes of your mind

the eyes of your heart, see the light and let’s do what’s right

It’s our future and our fight, our belts are fitted tight.

This is our right; youths hear me, hear me, your votes finally count.
