I met a man
who was competing in a sport tournament for the sixth time and had
never won. Amazed! I asked the man, why do you keep competing, when you never win? That’s not fair on you, he looked at me, smiled and with a sigh he let
out these words- the world would break your heart ten ways over and that’s
guaranteed. And I can’t explain that or the craziness of how it feels to endure
such pain. But all the world is trying to do “is tell you that you can’t” maybe
because you are not qualified or don’t deserve it, and no matter how hard you
work for it, fight for it, it’ll always elude you. So your best option is give
up and quit fighting. But listen, as he looked me straight in the eye, when you get beat down, you
don’t count yourself out, when you get knocked down, you don’t act like you
are knocked out, when you take a hit, it’s just a black eye, not a black out. And if you quit now,
you would be known as a quitter, a looser, with a string of losses attached to
his story, it would have been better if you never tried. But that’s only if
you quit, he swerved into a resolute gaze and said , I’d rather die fighting than live a quitter, I’d rather die trying
than live mourning my defeat. I’ll give everything I got into my next try and
more just for one chance to look life and that challenge in the eye and say
“your loss, my win”.
Most times life hits you so hard, you almost believe you cant take anymore, but the reality is that with every blow you grew stronger, with every loss you
grew wiser, you grew smarter and with every beating you grew more resistant and
resolute.
At first that challenge, that opponent was a dread, a huge scare and new, but now its just a regular. You are days,
hours, minutes, seconds from taking that brick wall down. Back then you were a walk over, but
now you’ve grown tougher. You can see the perspiration all over your opponent, (it) he feels your blows now, and tenses at your hit. See how the wheels have turned.
He's trying to stop you, fighting so hard; scared of what a champion you'd be!, "bring it on". Heroes aren’t measured by the size of their strength, but by the strength of their hearts, champions aren’t made in the ring, they are just discovered there, neither are warriors molded by words, they are forged in battle fields. So hit me with your best shot, give it all you got, because you might not get another chance. Because after now you become a walk over and I’ll finally get the chance to look you straight in the eye and say …… your loss, my win.. Laugh.
