The School Witch

Do you believe in the presence of unseen forces in our environment? Like the existence of spirits, witches, vampires, werewolves, zombies etc. Scary isn't it? Well in this part of the world; Africa, the belief in such existence is very strong and from my childhood, I was made to believe in their imminent presence and activities within our environment.

The nightmares and unprecedented winds at midnight that creep or storm our rooms are said to be the handiwork of the unseen forces. Well this was the case in my school.

A lady had been seen by a few other ladies in their dreams and consequently were said to have been oppressed simultaneously by her. she was therefore tagged a witch
.

The rumor spread so fast it was leading to her stigmatization. Meanwhile, the lady in question was not even aware and yes everyone that associated with her, was tagged a cohort member of her witchcraft coven. The religious ones immediately made her a prayer focus.

But the big question is,if I were a witch would I let the whole world know by appearing to folks and friends in dreams and showing off myself to some weirdo with evil powers knowing the consequences? Is it right to tag individuals with such assumptions knowing what harm it could cause them? How would I feel if I were been tagged with such?

Well SOMETHING HAPPENED; we were through with our exams and it was time to head out for field work. The field work would last for 9 weeks and had been divided to 3 quarters. Each meant to last 3 weeks. When I arrived the location for the first 3 weeks, all the hostel accommodations available had been taken leaving just one. Here there were no special preferences for ladies. So males and females could live together but with a little privacy though. Everyone had picked their choice roommates leaving the "witch" and her friend as my only options. Now what was i going to do? I had no place to go and no where to stay.

Watch out for the part 2 of this article.

Interviewing a Mad Man!

Madness is when it seems to others that a person has lost touch with reality. When we do things out of the normal like love for real LOL. You would imagine, what I was doing interviewing mad people, but yes I did, maybe in a little controlled setting but yes they were psychotic. Most of them repeated the questions I asked after me,expecting me to give them answers, some stared in amazement, while others just blabbed away uncontrollably.

But there was this one who had been reported to be beyond control but at that moment was in his best behavior. So I asked him; how do you do it? The reply was amazing, Sir I'm fighting it, because I know I'm not mad.

I was stunned by his attitude to his present state and consequently I realized that it doesn't matter how deep we've sunk into the mess or problem we find ourselves in; what matters most is our attitude. If a man who suffered delusion and chronic hallucination still won a Nobel prize award; Professor Nash, then we've got no  excuse. Even the battle of madness can be won with the right attitude.

Are you giving up on your situation, feeling weary, lacking motivation and drive, are you lacking resource; finance or information, there's no problem insurmountable. But to win you've got to have the right attitude. A positive attitude to life's challenges is one major ingredient for success.

Don't give up! Fight like my friend. If you want it you must will it and if you will it, it will be yours.

Let the Music Play!

Music is one force that undeniably drives a lot of us to expression, either through dancing, singing, writing, nodding and even smiling. It uncontrollably and unconsciously brings out the groove in us. It gives us the freedom to be who or anything we want to truly be.

You see there is actually a music inside of us, one that reaches deep down into the bottom of our souls, it flows with the rhythm of our heart and influences our unconscious line of thought. This connection embodies all that we are and all we are created to be. In this music lies our true self that bursts with pure, raw unadulterated talent. This happens when we move to the rhythm of the music coming from our soul. This is who we are!

So many today don't hear or feel that music play anymore, they lost it some where along the way. And now they just go with the trend, the routine, the dictate of the world.

Ever imagined you had a greater purpose? I don't mean delusions of grandeur but some strength, passion inside, seeking expression, maybe needing development or perfection locked inside yearning to burst out? Not saying you were born to be a musician No; it could be you've got a dream but presently you are in somewhere else, some other field that simply doesn't fit your rhythm but you just tag along for reasons that seem worth it; maybe money or acceptance.

You don't want to grow old regretting your unfulfilled youth. I can tell you; the pain of regret far out ways the pain of decision. Lack of fulfillment could lead to depression, withdrawal and unhappy lives.

Don't seek it in drugs or alcohol, don't try to run, feeling it's too late. You can still be you if you decide right now. Just let the music inside of you lead you, let the music play.
